While changing channels or turning up volume on Roku, do you find your TV slow to respond to the remote commands? If so, there is a bug on your Roku device, or your remote is facing an issue. Multiple reasons are pointed out here, and thus, a single fix won’t solve this problem. However, it’s not impossible to fix this.
Upon considering every aspect, I have come up with a neat troubleshooting approach to easily fix the Roku remote slow response problem.
How to Fix the Roku Remote Slow to Respond
Considering the difficulty level of the issue, I have listed the troubleshooting methods from easy to hard. So it’s recommended that every fix be followed from the beginning to the end.
Change the Batteries
When an issue comes in your remote, the problem may most probably be due to a dying battery. If the batteries on your Roku remote are depleted, it will delay or halt your Roku remote from sending a signal to the device and thus result in a slow response. So, as a first step, make sure to replace the old batteries on your Roku remote and fix the problem. You can purchase them online from Amazon at the best price.
Check for Obstacles
Is your Roku TV/Roku-connected TV surrounded by devices that deal with electronic/magnetic signals? Then, you will find your Roku commands to respond slowly. If your Roku remote signals are nullified or delayed by other electronic signals, you will face this issue. So, as a start, move devices like DVD decks, streaming devices, or Soundbar devices away that are interrupting the Roku signal receiver for a faster response.
Re-Pair Your Roku Remote
If your Roku remote is facing a glitch in its programming, then your remote commands will respond slower on your TV. So, as a solution to this, unpair and pair your Roku remote again to your Roku device. After the pairing is done, give a command on your Roku remote and check the response time.
Restart Your Roku TV
In some cases, your Roku remote might respond slowly if there is a bug or glitch on your device. These temporary glitches will make your device run slower to perform the remote commands faster than before. So, as a solution to this, restart your Roku device. By doing a restart, your Roku device will function faster and make your remote commands more easy to access.
Clear Cache on Roku
Similar to the temporary bugs on the device, the cache files of every app will make your device run slower. In the worst case, the cache files will get corrupted and interfere with the system’s performance. So, as a solution, make sure to clear cache files on your Roku to get rid of this problem. Since there is no direct option available to clear the cache file, you need to perform this manually. If you’re unaware of how to do this, check out our guide on how to clear cache files on Roku for detailed steps.
Reset Roku Remote
If the above fixes don’t give you a solution, then as a final solution, reset your Roku remote. Upon resetting, the bugs in your remote programming will get a refresh and clear out any room for error. To do this, remove the batteries on your remote and leave your remote idle for 10 minutes. Then, turn on your Roku device, pair your remote again, and check if the response speed of your Roku is slow or not.
Note: Resetting your Roku TV will unpair your Roku remote. So, pair your Roku remote again with the device to start using it.
Even if resetting doesn’t do the trick, then the problem might be with your Roku remote. In that case, contact Roku customer service to get help from an expert. Otherwise, you can use the Roku Remote app as an alternative remote for your device. Similar to this, if you have any issues with your Roku device, feel free to ping those on my forum page for help.
