How to Pair Roku Remote and Control your TV

If you have bought a new device or performed a factory reset on your Roku, you need to pair its remote to control the device. The pairing process is quite straightforward, and it can be done in a few minutes. However, the pairing procedure varies slightly between different models, which are explained below.

How to Pair Roku Simple Remote

Roku Simple Remotes do not have a microphone or a pairing button. To pair the remote, follow the methods below.

  • Initially, provide a proper supply to your Roku TV.
  • After that, open the Roku remote, insert the batteries, and close the battery compartment properly.
  • Now, you can point the remote at your TV and press any button on the Remote.
  • This will pair your Roku remote with your TV.

How to Pair Roku Voice Remote With Pairing Button

Roku Voice remotes come with a built-in Pairing button at the back, which we can pair with your TV.

  • Power on your Roku and press the Pairing button on it.

  • You must hold the button until the Status light on the remote flashes.
  • Wait till the remote gets paired with your TV.
  • Once paired, you can see the confirmation message on the screen.

How to Pair Roku Voice Remote Without a Pairing Button

If your remote doesn’t have a separate Pairing button, you can use its Home and Back buttons to pair.

  • Press the Home and Back buttons of your remote and hold it for a few seconds.
  • Release the buttons once the Green Light flashes on your remote.
  • Pairing remote message appears on your TV screen.

  • Once it gets paired, you can start using the remote and give voice commands.

Pair the Roku App Remote

The Roku remote app has a separate remote feature that you can use to control your TV. Just install the Roku Mobile app on your smartphone and connect it to the same WIFI as your Roku device. After this,

  • Launch the Roku app on your Android/iPhone and sign in to your Roku account.
  • Pick up the Devices option.
  • Choose your Roku device from the list and tap on Remote.
  • Now, a virtual remote opens up that allows you to control your Roku device.

How to Replace/Pair a New Remote to Roku

If your existing Roku remote is damaged, would you like to replace it with your new one? Then, with the help of The Roku Mobile app, you can easily complete this process.

  • First, set up your Roku Mobile app into a remote control by following the above heading.
  • After doing this, using the remote app, go to Settings and choose Remotes & Devices.
  • Next, select Add Devices and choose Remote > Add a new Remote.

  • Now, you will see a remote model display on your screen. Select the new remote model you need to pair on your TV.
  • After selecting the model, your Roku will automatically look for a new remote to pair.
  • While your Roku is searching for a remote, make sure to put your Roku remote in pairing mode. You can use the Pairing button or hold the Home + Back button (5 seconds) to put your remote in pairing.
  • Upon following the above procedure, your Roku will scan and pair with your new replacing Roku remote.

How to Unpair the Roku Remote

To unpair a Roku remote from the respective Roku device,

  • Press and hold the Home, Back, and the Pairing button simultaneously for some seconds.
  • Release those buttons once the remote’s Status light blinks thrice.
  • Now, your Roku remote gets unpaired from the Roku device, and your Roku device won’t respond to any commands from its remote thereafter.

From the above methods, you can easily pair any Roku remote model with your Roku TV or Streaming Stick. If you are unable to pair your remote, try resetting your Roku Remote and solve the issue.
